The Atlantic 10 Conference sent out an email on Tuesday morning alerting the media of a 1:30 CT press conference to make a "major announcement".
Until this morning, it had been believed that VCU would join the conference along with Butler in 2013, but that plan seems to have changed.
According to CAAHoops.com, the Rams will join the Atlantic 10 this upcoming season in 2012 as opposed to being a "lame duck" in the CAA.
With the likes of Saint Louis, St. Joe's, Massachusetts, Dayton, Temple, Xavier, VCU, La Salle, and even Richmond all vying for conference supremacy in 2012, this could make for quite the season.
VCU returns five of its top six scorers from an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011-12, with the lone (albeit important) loss of Bradford Burgess.
