St. Louis – Saint Louis junior forward Jake Barnett has been selected for the U.S. Eagles Men’s Basketball team that will travel to East Asia in June for competition against high-level and professional teams.
The trip is a cultural-exchange program that supports the development of basketball on an international level. In addition to basketball training, players for the Eagles will be involved in a leadership development program designed to promote integrity and character both on and off the court.
The U.S. Eagles are comprised of Euroleague athletes and Division I athletes from around the country. Additional universities represented include: Murray State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tennessee Tech, Valparaiso, Vanderbilt and Washington State.
Barnett played in 17 games last season for the Billikens after sitting out the 2010-11 campaign following his transfer from Toledo.
University of Washington assistant coach Paul Fortier will coach the team. The trip is scheduled for June 3-17, beginning with a team training camp at Camp of the Woods in Speculator, N.Y. The Eagles’ competition schedule is being finalized.
