Calbert Cheaney To Be Named Assistant At SLU

Saint Louis has hired former Indiana star Calbert Cheaney as assistant coach, has confirmed.

Saint Louis has found its replacement on its staff for associate head coach Jim Whitesell. Sources confirmed to that Calbert Cheaney has accepted the assistant coaching position for the Bills.

Cheaney, an Evansville native, had a prolific career at Indiana and in the NBA.

The 42-year-old played for five different teams professionally and held the director of player development position at Indiana.

He does not have any coaching experience, but will certainly be a name that will resonate with parents and kids around the Midwest. was the first to report Cheaney's hiring.
