Led by junior guards Tommie Liddell III and Kevin Lisch, Saint Louis defeated Saint Joseph’s 64-55 on Thursday at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse in front of a national television audience on ESPN2.
The Billikens improved to 16-12 overall and 7-7 in the Atlantic 10.
Liddell scored a game-high 21 points, including three 3-pointers and 10 of 12 free throw attempts. Lisch scored 17 points and also knocked down three 3-pointers.
Senior guard Danny Brown added 11 points and provided one of the best Billiken highlights of the season with a thunderous one-handed dunk that made SportsCenter’s list of the day’s top 10 plays.
Senior forward Luke Meyer grabbed 11 rebounds and senior center Bryce Husak added eight as the Billikens out-rebounded St. Joe’s (17-9, 8-5) by a margin of 41-28. SLU also grabbed 13 offensive rebounds, including five by the 6-foot-5 Meyer.
SLU led 31-29 at halftime and outscored the hosts 33-26 in the second half.
The Billikens are back in action Saturday afternoon as they host St. Bonaventure at 1 p.m. in the final game at Scottrade Center before moving to the new Chaifetz Arena on campus next season.
