Cassity, Thompson Play in All-Star Game

Kyle Cassity and Brett Thompson will officially become teammates at Saint Louis University soon when Cassity, a combo guard from Pinckneyville, Ill., moves to Missouri and joins Thompson on campus. But the duo got to play together on Saturday for one last time as high school players.

Cassity and Thompson both competed for the South squad in the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Class 1A-2A All-Star Game at the Illinois Wesleyan University’s Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill. But the future Billikens were defeated as the North team pulled out a 107-94 victory after a strong second half performance.

A 6-foot-4 guard, Cassity made four early baskets to give his team a lead but finished with 10 points in the defeat, including a 3-pointer and a free throw. Thompson, a 7-foot center from Vienna, Ill., finished with five points.
