St. Louis area basketball fans will get a glimpse of the future of the Saint Louis University basketball program on Saturday night during the 12th annual Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation All-Star Basketball Game at Harris-Stowe State University.

Four of the six recruits who have signed with Saint Louis U. for next season are expected to participate in the game, which is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start: guards Jeff Reid and Justin Jordan and forwards Jonathan Smith and Cory Remekun.

The game is set up in a local vs. national format, with the national team also likely including recruits from other regional Division I programs. University of Missouri recruits Michael Dixon, Keith Dewitt, Tyler Stone and Jon Underwood are also expected to participate.

Among the St. Louis area players expected to play for the local side are guards Bryant Allen (Minnesota signee), Keith Pickens (Missouri State), Jerome Jones (Missouri State), Alex Bazzell (University of Missouri-Kansas City) and Lonnie Boga (Wisconsin-Milwaukee) as well as forwards Michael Porter (Missouri State) and Connell Crossland and center Will Clark (Texas Southern).

Reid, Jordan, Smith and Remekun comprise four of the six players — Australians Christian Salecich and Cody Ellis are the other two — for the second straight large recruiting class for SLU coach Rick Majerus. Reid, Jordan and Smith have already been on campus taking classes and working out. Remekun was expected to arrive at Saint Louis U. this week.

Reid, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, and Jordan, a 5-11 point guard, are expected to compete for playing time in the Billikens’ backcourt this season after the departures of Kevin Lisch and Tommie Liddell. Jordan, a high-scoring guard out of Fort Wayne, Ind., will back up the point guard spot behind sophomore-to-be Kwamain Mitchell.

The 6-7 Smith and 6-8 Remekun are both described as long and athletic forwards who figure to make an impact on the offensive and defensive boards and block shots. Both players figure to be in the mix for minutes after forward Barry Eberhardt exhausted his eligibility and Brett Thompson transferred recently following his freshman season.
