Week 3 MVP
James Fleming
III – Glenbard North – 5-11 senior guard – 28 points
Fleming had the best day on the floor as he shot the ball well from the outside. He’s played well in the last month and is starting to see his stock rise.
Week 3 Outstanding Performers
Dwayne Evans
– Neuqua Valley – 6-4 senior forward -24 points
Fresh off his official visit to
St. Louis
, the SLU commit imposed his will on the game whenever he touched the ball. Evans is so strong that he scores inside on smaller players and can bang down low and hold his own with bigger players. A solid day for the future Billiken.
Lane Barlow – St. Rita – 6-0 senior guard – 23 points
Power lefty point guard got into the lane at will on his way to 23 points. He’s big and is able to finish even though he draws contact. A big senior season could go a long way in his stock rising.
Dean Danos – Richards – 5-10 sophomore guard – 22 points
Danos had arguably the best complete game of the day. The outside shot and the dribble-drive were in full effect and Danos also made crisp passes and found the open man most possessions. He has a great feel for the game for such a young age.
Brandon Snowden – Richards – 6-0 senior guard - 22 points
Snowden looks much improved since the summer. The jumper has improved and the athleticism was always top notch. If he shows a little more point guard skills he would be a very intriguing combo-guard prospect at the next level.
Adonis Bailey – Richards – 6-3 senior guard – 21 points and four assists
In his first game in the league, Bailey shocked with his athleticism and feel for the game. He is a bit raw on his skills, but has good court vision and a killer crossover and pro-hop. A great start for the Richards product.
Rahjan Muhammad – Neuqua Valley – 6-0 senior guard
Struggled finding his shot early but kept himself in the game playing hard on defense and finally finding his offense. 14 points and two assists is a solid day after the rough start.
Kareem Amedu
– Neuqua Valley - 6-5 senior forward
Struggled to get the ball in the paint, but is an absolute bull when he gets position. Amedu is strong and competitive and thrives on drawing contact. In a normal game setting he is more deadly when he draws fouls.
Marshall Bennett – Rich Central – 6-5 senior swingman
One of the feel-good stories of the league after returning from a dislocated knee, Bennett showed a lot of promise and had the dunk of the day with his afternoon throw down. Looking forward to seeing more of this promising wing.
Jay Harris
– Oswego East – 6-1 senior guard
Harris had 15 points with an array of deep shots and drives to the basket. He makes things look easy and seems to fit in naturally at either guard position. His passing and vision is also an asset and he uses them well to create scoring opportunities for teammates.
Gerald Dorsey
– Tinley Park – 6-0 senior guard
After a hot start in the first two weeks, Dorsey had 16 points and scored inside and out. His highlight of the day came on a fast break dunk late in the game that showed his tremendous athleticism. He’s nearly impossible to guard one-on-one.
Tevin Harris – Providence St. Mel - 6-4 senior forward
Although Harris only had four points, his athleticism and defensive abilities impressed us more. After a hot first half, Harris guarded Adonis Bailey and held his own on the red-hot senior. It would be nice if Tevin were more aggressive offensively, but he shows a lot of promise.
Darius Draper – Stagg - 6-4 junior forward
The wing from Stagg shot the ball well from the outside on his way to 10 points. He is a natural rebounder who always grabs the ball at the apex of his jump and his feel for the game is evident on almost every play.
Gino Manzella – Lincoln Way West – 6-1 sophomore guard
Manzella had 16 and two assists and had a nice day around the basket. Undersized for an inside player, Manzella always seems to find the hoop, even when he is not facing the rim and plays tough all the time.
